ETIV DO BRASIL AND SWIMTAYKA JOINING FORCES TO save lives and promote an ethical
use of ou water resources.
ETIV do Brasil and SwimTayka have joined forces to teach the life skills of swimming and water stewardship to underprivileged children and youth living along Itacaré's rivers and ocean.
We are currently looking for a certified, responsible and dedicated SwimTayka Coordinator to teach swimming lessons, drowning prevention and environmental education in our beautiful Itacaré during the months of March, April and May, 2019.
SwimTayka has already developed a fantastic curriculum full of fun and educational activities to guide this project, although the Coordinator and the Swimming Teacher will also have the freedom to incorporate some of their own educational programming and activities as well. The SwimTayka Coordinator is in charge of managing the entire project, as well as supervising and supporting all of the other volunteers participating in the program.
We currently have two positions available for the ETIV do Brasil/SwimTayka swimming lessons.
swimtayka coordinator (stc)
swimtayka teacher (stt)
As we have already mentioned above, the STC will be responsible for managing the entire program here in Itacaré while also having plenty of opportunities to make recommendations and further develop our activities.
The STT will support and work under the guidance and supervision of the STC or an ETIV staff member, if a STC is not available at the time. SwimTayka Teachers, however, must also be certified swimming instructors.
Both STC and STT must incorporate environmental education principles into their activities, as this program has also the goal of increasing environmental awareness and activism.
The STC must oversee the entire program, working in direct collaboration and under the supervision of our Director and/or Operations Manager;
The STT must support the work of the STC, prepare/teach the swimming lessons and, along with the STC, work closely with our Environmental Education team to ensure our swimming classes are incorporating environmental principles;
The STT must help the STC to build good and solid relationships with our community;
The STC, with the support of the STT, must lead our efforts to recruit more students for our classes, as well as properly registering them, gathering the respective parental signatures of all participating children and youth, and documenting every project activity in our database;
The STC is responsible for purchasing any materials that may be necessary for the classes, and for keeping track of the program budget, working in close correspondence with ETIV do Brasil and SwimTayka staff;
The STC must supervise and teach the swimming lessons, drowning prevention techniques and environmental education training using our SwimTayka curriculum and manual;
The STC must supervise, support and facilitate meetings with any other SwimTayka volunteers that may be involved in the program;
Both the STC and the STT must keep the swimming materials organized, in good condition, and always store them properly after every class;
The STC and the STT must work closely together to help us run our program smoothly.
Volunteers/interns must be at least 18 years or older;
STC must be fluent in English and Portuguese, and commit to 30 hours/week of work throughout March, April and May, 2019, for the entire program calendar;
STC must have Swimming Certification(s), CPR and first aid certificate;
STT must be fluent in English and speak Intermediate/Advanced Portuguese, be a certified swimming instructor and commit to 20 hours/week of work throughout March, April and May, 2019, for at least one month;
The STC must show great leadership, social and organizational skills;
Both the STC and the STT mus have patience, flexibility and punctuality, as well as responsibility and dedication;
All volunteers and interns must agree to and sign our Volunteer Contract before arriving, as well as sign their rental agreement if staying at our Volunteer House.
