Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of our friends and supporters!

As we ring in 2019, we also close a chapter of great transformation and expansion,

much of which resulted from several amazing volunteers that made lasting

impact on our NGO and our local community projects!

In so many ways, our volunteers are truly at the heart of this organization and we are so grateful for their brilliant contributions! We feel privileged and honored that many of them continue to volunteer remotely for us even after they leave, and some of them even decide to come back, such as Eva and Rob - two of our most impactful volunteers so far - who will be joining us again for 3 more months in early 2019!

We are also extremely thankful for the fantastic work our LitClub mentors and coordinators Ivone and Michele have been doing, and the opportunity they earned to take two of our LitClub girls to the HerStory Summit and the United Nations "Day of the Girl" Conference in New York City this year was an indisputable proof of the success they have been achieving thanks to their passion, work and commitment.

Thank you so much LitWorld and Global GLOW for all the amazing support!

I have also to express my gratitude with SwimTayka for our partnership and for allowing us to literally save lives while also teaching our kids and youth and environmental conservation and water stewardship! We hope we can keep working together for many more years to come!

In other exciting news, we recently hired our wonderful new Operations Manager, Bernardo Salce, at the end of November! In the very short time that he has been with us, he has already rebuilt our new website, began supporting all of our local community projects and began supervising and coordinating all of our volunteers and the volunteer house. Such a fantastic addition to the ETIV Team!!

Meanwhile, ETIV began focusing more deeply on building new local partnerships in 2018 and we are proud to be partnering with three incredible women that are leading a brighter way for our communities. This includes Cris from Casa do Conto, Emmanuelle from Recicla Itacaré and Simone with IF Bahianos, Projecto Margaritas.

With the culmination of all these new developments in 2018, we are definitely expecting great things in the New Year, despite the many global and political challenges we may be facing! This is a critical time to focus on some of core values including human rights and environmental conservation and act in ways that will continue to promote these values.

May this new year be full of peace, love and happiness for all of us!!!

Happy summer also to all of you here in Brazil!

With love and all the best wishes,

Jaci Braga - Founder & Director ETIV do Brasil
